As God was giving His commands to His people before they were to go in and possess the Promised Land, He warned them to obey His commands and keep His statutes. He warned of the people’s hearts turning to the evil of the world in the land in which He had promised them. Read His warning in Deuteronomy 7:4,5,25,26, and see if this does not fit the television, “For they (the actors producers, and writers of Hollywood, who hate God, the Bible, righteousness, and holiness along with their father the devil) will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire. The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God. Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house (and if it’s in there, then throw it out), lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest (hate sin) it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.” The more you watch, the harder your heart becomes to the holiness and righteousness of God.
These are pretty strong words coming from the Lord, but He knows the heart of man and knows that if you look upon wickedness that tantalizes the flesh, the battle with the flesh will be harder to win. Look at the Christians who have fallen away from the Lord and returned to the world. It didn’t happen over night, usually. It started with what they were feeding themselves. Romans 8:5-8 explains this, “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” The more you watch, the harder your heart becomes to the holiness and righteousness of God.
Remember the story of Lot in Genesis 19 after he had “pitched his tent toward Sodom.” We see that the ungodly influence and temptation was too strong for him and for his wife and daughters. Watching all the wickedness daily, as Christians do on the television, vexed his soul as Lot was “…vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing (also done by way of the television), vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds (let alone the philosophy that is antichrist).”
Men, you must be honest with yourself! Your flesh loves to look at beautiful women undressing or half-dressed!! Of course you do, because you are in the flesh, but this is wrong. It’s sin! Jesus tells us about those who are watching television in Matthew 5:28, “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” How many times a day are you guilty of committing adultery with the movie stars from the television?? You can disagree with me and my opinion, but this is the opinion of God Almighty!! Family after family is destroyed, because the husband is not satisfied with the looks of his wife after watching the perfectly shaped bodies of Hollywood!!! Job would not have had a television, as he is recorded as saying in Job 31:1, “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?” Immorality and fornication begin in front of the television!! Proverbs 6:25 preaches this, “Lust not after her beauty in thine heart (thinking); neither let her take thee with her eyelids (I’ve never understood why Christian women paint their eyelids after reading this passage).” Satan laughs as preachers mock those who have thrown out this instrument of ungodliness. The more you watch, the harder your heart becomes to the holiness and righteousness of God.
As women watch television, they see the men that they always wish their husband could be! They look over at the coach potato with a gut, smelly feet, and glued to the television. They look around at their home and compare it to the beautifully perfect homes of the television and become discontented with what they have. They see the “success” of the working women of this world and realize that their only escape from this “enslavement” is to disobey God and venture out into the workplace, forsaking their children and their husband, and leave their God-given roles. This appears to be the answer from the worldly standpoint, after filling their minds with the philosophy of the world. However, these will be the women with rebellious, carnal children. These women (notice I do not say ladies) will stand before God for not doing what is best for her family, her husband, and her own relationship with God. The more you watch, the harder your heart becomes to the holiness and righteousness of God.
As children watch television, they have all the Biblical teaching erased as they see famous, well-loved people “preaching” in story form such antichrist teachings as loving the world, one-worldism, disobedience to parents, evolution, positive thinking, nudity, humanism, compromise, violence, erotic dancing, rock music (children’s shows are full of this), and philosophy that will keep them from pure, holy thinking. As the parents preach obedience, the child is “brainwashed” to “do your own thing.” Parents do not realize that they are commanded to, “…train up a child in the way that he should go…,” yet they allow the television, public school system, and ungodly friends and relatives to shape the thinking of their children. The more you watch, the harder your heart becomes to the holiness and righteousness of God.
